Niterói all set for King of the Court Rio

The entry list for the first-ever Brazilian King of the Court tournament is finger licking good. All the top players from Brazil and surrounding countries are present from November 20-22 at Icaraí Beach, in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. Guto and Saymon headline the event on the men’s side, Rebecca and Natasha lead the way in the quest for the crowns of Rio de Janeiro.

The inaugural international King of the Court event on the southern hemisphere will be played in an iconic spot. Rio’s Sugerloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer are overseeing the stadium, which is free to attend on all three days of the tournament. Sportworx, King of the Court’s organizer and the Brazilian Volleyball Federation CBV are very proud to invite you to experience the best beach volleyball has to offer.

Men
The men’s tournament will feature 15 teams. Next to Guto and Saymon, Brazil is represented by some excellent players, like Arthur Mariano and Adrielson Emanuel. Not only the best Brazilian players will be there, but also top-level international players. For instance, European King of the Court bronze medalist Kusti Nõlvak is playing with fellow Estonian Dmitri Korotkov. The Chilean cousins Esteban and Marco Grimalt are back to fight for the crown. From Argentina Olympian Julian Azaad is confirmed, Canada’s Grant O’Gorman teams up with Brazilian Marcus.

Women
The women’s event will feature ten teams. Rebecca Silva and Fernanda Bert are the highest ranked team for Queen of the Court Rio, followed by Andressa Cavalcante en Vitória Rodrigues. Taiana Lima and Hegeile Almeida have also confirmed. Argentina Olympian Fernanda Pereyra will aim for a top spot with Cecilia Peralta and USA’s Jade Race teams-up with Brazil’s Giulia Gavio.

Schedule
King of the Court Rio, on Icaraí Beach in Niterói, Rio de Jeneiro, will start on Sunday November 20 at 6 p.m. local time (GMT-3) with the first of three quarterfinals in the men’s event. Two quarterfinals will be played on Sunday, the third will follow on Monday afternoon. The women start with the first semifinal on Sunday, with the second following on Monday.

On Tuesday the men’s semis and the finals in both events will be played. The finals will start at 7 p.m. local time. Check out the full schedule and pools’ layout here.
