Crowing the birthday Queens & Kings of February

Another month means new birthdays in our Queen & King of the Court family. Our players spend most of their time training, traveling and competing, but a birthday is always a good moment to pause and celebrate. This month we highlight the Queens and Kings adding another year. Join us in wishing them health, happiness and success on and off the court

Nils Ehlers (turning 32) – Silver medallist at the 2024 Paris Olympics.  Also in Queen & King of the Court he built quite the reputation: seven appearances, three times crowned King and always a dangerous opponent. His crowns came in Hamburg, Luxemburg and Doha and he’s far from done.

Sara Hughes (turning 31) – One of the stars of the new generation. She is a World Champion in 2023 with Kelly Cheng, has multiple AVP titles and World Tour golds. In 2024 in Hamburg she was crowned Queen of the Court with Kelly Cheng. With her aggressive style she’s a crowd favorite at every event.

Jake Gibb (turning 50) – Five Olympic Games and for years the face of Team USA. His best Olympic finishes were two 5th places, but in 2018 he twice claimed the crown in Queen & King of the Court. That proved that even in his later years, his class was still there.

Jacob Hölting Nilsson (turning 21) – He is a rising Swedish talent: U22 European Champion in 2024 and already collecting elite-level medals. Still early in his senior career, he has quickly become one of the brightest stars at the moment. At Queen & King of the Court he competed in Tenerife, Utrecht and Stockholm. No crown yet, but he’s definitely coming for one.

Alejandro Huerta (turning 28) – The Spanish player has been on an incredible run at Queen & King of the Court, winning three events with three different partners: Utrecht with Dressler, Hamburg with Joa Bello and Tenerife with Gavira. He seems made for this format, with a strong side-out game and the ability to score from any position. A true Spanish success machine.

Rémi Bassereau (turning 27) – The French blocker is still relatively new to the international stage after switching from indoors. After making his Olympic debut on home soil, he now teamed up with Calvin Aye. Together they claimed bronze at the Queen & King of the Court Finals in Doha. With his height at the net, scoring against him is never easy.

Svenja Müller (turning 25) – Germany’s number one blocker at the moment. Still young but already packed with great results, including World Championship bronze. Together with Cinja Tillmann she forms a top team, always in the fight for the crown. Silver at the 2024 Queen & King of the Court Finals in Doha and bronze in Luxembourg, just one step away from completing the podium set.
