Full house on opening night of Queen & King of the Court Utrecht

Tonight was the moment we've all been waiting for: the very first session of Queen & King of the Court Utrecht kicked off! A packed BetCity Arena welcomed sports fans from Utrecht and beyond for a perfect summer evening of beach volleyball and entertainment. A lineup full of international stars, top Dutch teams and non-stop entertainment proved to be the winning formula.

Strong women’s pool opens the night
The women kicked off the event with two Dutch teams in the spotlight: Konink & Schoon and Poiesz & Luini, both backed loudly by the home crowd. They were joined on court by Brazil’s Vitoria & Hegeile, USA’s Bauer & Anderson and Paraguay’s Michelle & Poletti. Vitoria & Hegeile dominated early, winning the first round with a wide lead and securing the first semifinal ticket. Konink & Schoon stepped up in round two with a dominant performance, followed by Poiesz & Luini, who left the competition behind in round three. All three teams are now set for the semifinals.

Boermans & De Groot shine in men’s matchup
Then it was time for the men to take over. Dutch duo Boermans & De Groot started strong, winning the first round and setting the tone for the rest of the match. The energy in the arena stayed high with the Dutch/Estonian combo Luini & Nõlvak still in the mix. Argentina’s Capogrosso brothers, USA’s Smith & Webber and Canada’s Schachter & Pickett all brought their A-game. In the end, the Capogrosso brothers and Smith & Webber claimed the remaining semifinal spots.

Tomorrow brings another sunny and stacked day of action at the BetCity Arena. From 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM and again from 7:30 PM, more men’s and women’s teams will fight for a spot in the semis. Expect fireworks with Hamburg’s new Kings Huerta & Bello, Dutch favorites Brouwer & Van de Velde, Van Driel & Bekhuis, and many more top teams ready to battle it out.
