German teams shine on opening day in Hamburg

The first day of Queen & King of the Court Hamburg is in the books and what a start it was for the home crowd. Several German teams took the stage and they did not disappoint. Many of them have already secured a spot in tomorrow’s semifinals, including Olympic duo Ehlers/Wickler, who dominated their first-round match.

Ehlers/Wickler deliver in front of home crowd
All eyes in the Active City Arena were on Ehlers/Wickler and they delivered in style. With 17 points in their opening round, they left their competitors far behind and sent a clear message. Other German teams also showed strong performances. Young duo Otte/Schäkel impressed by scoring the most points in the third and final session, earning their place in the semifinals and fulfilling a personal dream. And they’re not the only home favorites still in the game. Henning/Wüst, Sowa/Reinhardt and the German-Dutch pair Huster/Immers also secured semifinal spots.

International stars make their mark
It wasn’t just the German teams grabbing attention. In the opening match of the day, Graudina/Ebere claimed the win. European champions Plavins/Fokerots put on a clinic in the men’s field, dominating their round and advancing to Saturday. Two-time QKOTC bronze medalist Corinne Quiggle, alongside Megan Rice, also earned a place in the semifinals. Tomorrow, these teams - along with other international stars and rising talents - will battle for one of five spots in Sunday’s final.
