The first day of Queen & King of the Court Miami Beach is in the books! After a year and a half, the wildly popular beach volleyball format returned to the region with a new twist: USA vs. The Rest of The World. In today's qualification rounds, the final two main draw tickets were claimed by Megan Rice/Sara Putt and Mees Sengers/Timothy Brewster.
The day kicked off with nine women's teams and eight men's teams competing in the qualifiers. Many teams were packed with promising, up-and-coming talent, with several athletes hailing from the region and bringing friends and family for support. The crowd enjoyed over 7 hours of intense beach volleyball action. By late afternoon, only five teams per gender remained for the final rounds. The women's matches were incredibly close in each round, but American duo Megan Rice and Sara Putt managed to clinch the win. Svozilová/Adams narrowly missed out by just one point.
In the men's final, the gap was more significant, with the Dutch-American pair Sengers/Brewster securing a convincing victory. Both winning teams will join the main draw tomorrow, alongside international stars like Laura Ludwig and Ágatha. They’ll face tough competition from top U.S. players such as Kraft/Cannon, Whitmarsh/Newberry, Smith/Webber, and Schalk/Lucena.
