"The Ultimate Mashup" is coming to Utrecht

From September 5 to 8, 2024, Utrecht, Netherlands will once again be the vibrant center of international beach volleyball with the return of Queen & King of the Court at Jaarbeursplein. This edition, "The Ultimate Mashup," promises an unparalleled experience in a unique pop-up stadium, featuring surprising new team combinations and thrilling matches, making it the biggest beach volleyball spectacle in the Netherlands.

Surprising Combinations and Unmatched Talent
For the first time, players have complete freedom to play outside their usual teams, leading to unexpected duos that guarantee excitement. This edition brings together world-class players. Think of duos like Robert Meeuwsen and Clemens Wickler, who had the unique opportunity to play together during King of the Court in Hamburg and won. Robert Meeuwsen will be playing his final matches in the Netherlands, making this a particularly special appearance.

Or the partnership of Anders Mol, possibly the best beach volleyball player in the world, with the spectacular Adrian Carambula, famous for his high serves, the so-called ‘skyballs’. At the Paris Olympics, they faced each other, with the Norwegian proving too strong for the Italian. Other duos, such as Stefan Boermans and Aleksandrs Samoilovs—better known as ‘The Lion King’—will also surprise the crowd with their mix of experience, power, and entertainment. With players from around the world, from Brazil to Latvia, this promises to be an exciting tournament.

Dutch Stars in the Spotlight
Dutch fans have plenty to look forward to. Our own stars, like Alexander Brouwer and Yorick de Groot, are eager to shine in front of the home crowd. Additionally, Utrecht talents Marly Bak and Bjorna Gras, both players from VV Utrecht, will make their debut on this grand stage. And of course, there’s the mentioned local pride Robert Meeuwsen from Nieuwegein, playing his last games on Dutch soil.

In the women's competition, look forward to the strong duo of Laura Ludwig and our ‘own’ Katja Stam, who are favorites for the win. Ludwig, a living legend who is also playing her last tournaments, has won everything there is to win. Young stars like Raisa Schoon and Daniela Alvarez will also take the field, alongside other notable names like Karla Borger, winner of Utrecht 2022, and Karla Clancy, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics.
