Beach volleyball returns to London's Olympic sand with a new twist!

For the first time since the 2012 Olympic Games, international beach volleyball returns to London. On November 28 and 29, 2025, the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre will host Queen & King of the Court London, part of the global Crown Series.

In a nod to the city’s Olympic legacy, the court will be built using the original Olympic sand from Horse Guards Parade. This is the same sand where the world’s best once competed, including 2012 Olympic champion Julius Brink. Now a presenter and commentator for Queen & King of the Court, Brink returns to London to help pass the torch to the next generation.

Home heroes and global stars unite
Leading the local charge are the Bello brothers, England’s top beach volleyball team and rising stars on the world stage. After a breakthrough season on the international tour, they will take on the world’s best duos, including past and present champions, as they fight to claim the London crowns in front of a home crowd.

A milestone for volleyball in England
Volleyball England CEO Charlie Ford and Sportworx CEO Wilco Nijland see the London event as a defining moment for the sport in the UK.

“Building on last year’s amazing showcase at Canary Wharf, we are proud to stage the first Crown Series event in the United Kingdom and the world’s first indoor edition of this exciting format,” said Charlie Ford. “It is a major step for volleyball in England, giving our top players and rising stars the opportunity to shine on a global stage.” Wilco Nijland added: “London is one of the greatest sports cities in the world. Bringing international beach volleyball back on Olympic sand beautifully connects the sport’s past and future, creating the perfect setting for a new chapter.”

A new kind of beach volleyball
Queen & King of the Court is a fast-paced knockout format that turns beach volleyball into a race against the clock. Five teams compete on one court with nonstop rallies and constant action. The format has already packed arenas in Utrecht, Hamburg, Tenerife and Miami, and after last year’s successful London showcase, the city now joins the official tour.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, said: “London is the sporting capital of the world, so I am delighted to welcome Queen & King of the Court, featuring some of the world’s best beach volleyball players. It is one of the biggest events since London 2012, and it is fitting that the court will use the original Olympic sand. With major investment transforming Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, it will be a fantastic stage as we build a healthier, more active London for everyone.”

Where sport meets show
Crystal Palace will host two days of world class sport, music and entertainment. Fans can expect lights, DJs, food and drinks, and surprises throughout the weekend. Each session will welcome 1,500 spectators, and organisers expect all sessions to sell out quickly.
