Teams from the Netherlands, France and USA have reached the final of Queen & King of the Court at the Beachboard Hacienda in Tenerife. France’s Saofé Duval and Romane Sobezalz performed with great bravado and ousted some excellent teams. Dutchies Alexander Brouwer and Stefan Boermans won all three rounds, they were unstoppable. And the USA have made the most of their second day of competition. Both Seain Cook / Andy Benesh and Corinne Quiggle / Chloe Loreen won in their second try. The finals on Sunday are going to be off the charts. Two wild card teams were chosen as well, check out their names below now.
Women
Saofé Duval and Romane Sobezalz played their second match on Saturday evening, they lost in the second round of the Group B match on Friday. They were fearless, taking on great names like last year’s defending champion Kylie Neuschaeferová with her partner Martina Maixnerofá. Spain’s home favorites Sofia Gonzalez and Nazaret Florian also fell victim to the French prowess.
In the first match of the day there was also a big surprise. World champions of the format, Netherlands’s Katja Stam and Raïsa Schoon, won the first two rounds but came up short in the third. Corinne Quiggle and Chloe Loreen saved the best for the last minutes and surpassed the Dutch in the dying seconds. Aleksandra Wachowicz and Julia Kielak finished third in Group C.
The final is all set for Sunday 19.30 UTC, the wild card team of Anastasija Samoilova and Tina Graudina will be the fifth team in attendance. Desy Poiesz and Mila Konink and Karla Borger and Hanna-Marie Schieder qualified for the final on Friday. Check out the full info here.
Men
Both Alexander Brouwer and Stefan Boermans are on their way back from physical issues, the first had ankle surgery, the latter was injured. But you couldn’t see it from their performance, winning all three rounds of the Group C match, They beat former King Mart Tiisaar with his companion Dimitriy Korotkov (EST) and USA’s Tim Brewster and Ryan Ierna in the last round.
Switzerland’s Marco Krattiger and Leo Dillier, Ruben Penninga and Matthew Immers (NED) and Seain Cook and Andy Benesh put up an amazing show in the evening match. The Swiss seemed to take the win, but a great effort by the Americans saw them reaching the final. As a comfort for the Swiss they were chosen as the wild card team to be in Sunday’s final as well. It will be a cracker, starting at 21.00 UTC. Check out all the info here.
